The UAE dominated the archery competitions at the 8th edition of the Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2026) in Sharjah, topping the medal standings with two gold, four silver and two bronze medals as the competitions concluded on Wednesday.
Sharjah Women’s Sports Club and Abu Dhabi Archery Club led the UAE’s success across recurve and compound team and individual events, while Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait also earned podium finishes.
Team competitions
In the recurve team competition, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club claimed the gold medal, with Abu Dhabi Archery Club taking silver. Kuwait Shooting Club secured the bronze medal.
The compound team title was secured by Sharjah Women’s Sports Club, who won the gold medal, while Abu Dhabi Archery Club claimed silver.
Individual competitions
In the individual compound event, Fatimah Al Mashhadani of Iraqi Airways Club captured the gold medal. Amna Alawadhi of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club won silver, while teammate Rawda Al-Awadhi claimed bronze.
The recurve individual title was claimed by Qatari Reem Al-Saei of Al Rami Club. Maha Al-Housni of Sharjah Women’s Sports Club finished second, with Huda Al-Ali of Abu Dhabi Archery Club taking bronze.
With all recurve and compound team and individual events completed, the archery competition officially concluded with the medal awarding ceremony at AWST 2026.
Organised by Sharjah Women’s Sports, AWST runs until 12 February and brings together 65 teams from 16 Arab countries competing across nine individual and team sports.
